Mercury now has a complete Blogging tool available that can be easily added to your current website. I am going to inform those of you that don’t currently understand what exactly a Blog is, what Blogs are and what they will do for your online initiatives. FYI, we will be launching a new Mercury Web Solutions website in the very near future. This redesign will work within our recently launched MercuryCMS 2.0 and will incorporate the new Blogging tool I am promoting. There you will be able to follow our new Blog in action and what it is used for by our team.

There are many diverse thoughts on exactly what a Blog is. You can further investigate how others define a Blog by simply typing into a search engine like I did; “What exactly is a Blog?” Here is the best definition I have come across so far:

“A weblog, web log or simply a blog, is a web application which contains periodic time-stamped posts on a common webpage. These posts are often but not necessarily in reverse chronological order. Such a website would typically be accessible to any Internet user. "Weblog" is a portmanteau of "web" and "log". The term "blog" came into common use as a way of avoiding confusion with the term server log.”

Still confused? I thought if I explained some of the benefits of a properly set up and managed Blog, you might be able to understand the above referenced definition a bit more.

Search Engine Marketing
A properly run Blog like Mercury’s tool, will automatically submit your Blog articles to several outlets that will garner indexing from the major search engines and create links back to your site. These links will generate relevant new traffic from interested parties to your site as they were first directed to your Blog article because of its content.

Direct Communications
Blogs provide a way for you to speak directly, openly and honestly with your clients and return visitors to your site and your Blog. If these visitors continue to visit your Blog, they may eventually become new clients or recommend your products and services to others.

Brand Building
Blogs serve as another channel through which to promote your brand and company.

Set Yourself Apart From Competition
Blogs give you the opportunity to tell your story over and over so they help set you apart from the competition.

Relationship Marketing
Interaction on your Blog will allow you to build personal, long-lasting relationships with your customers that create loyalty to your Company and products.

Position You and Your staff as Experts
Blogs enable you to articulate viewpoints, knowledge and expertise from you and your staff on matters pertaining to your industry.

Low Cost
Blogs like the one we support here at Mercury are inexpensive to set up, operate and maintain. Contact us to get more information on how you and your staff can start benefiting from our new tool.
